RME TotalMix FX 4 All
31-08-2015RME has been supplying TotalMix with their current high-end audio interfaces for a few years now. This software allows you to use your RME device as a full featured digital mixing console. On the FX units, like UFX, UCX and MadiFX, full EQ, dynamics and FX are included, allowing extensive mixing capabilities.
Over a period of more than 13 years, RME changed their basic driver design several times, to gain best performance out of the ever changing hardware and operating systems.
FireWire and USB drivers for RME interfaces have been updated with new features and slightly improved performance, under both Windows and Mac OS X. Full compatibility to the latest Windows 8 and Mac OS X is expected from RME‘s customers, and RME delivers.
But even if ASIO for Windows or CoreAudio for Mac OS X is used, the new driver generation has something unique to offer: TotalMix FX. Yes, RME ported the latest TotalMix FX back to all devices released since 2001! Of course there is no EQ, no Echo, no Reverb, no Dynamics, as the hardware back in these days was not built to render those. Still there are many advantages and additional features in comparison to the previous TotalMix.
Please allow us to repeat it one more time and make it absolutely clear: Now TotalMix FX can be used with all RME HDSP(e) cards, as well as the legendary FireWire audio interfaces Fireface 800 and Fireface 400.
TotalMix FX 4 All has arrived and it is full of amazing features:
1. Choice of mono and stereo channels
2. Improved graphics including zoom states and brightness control
3. OSC remote control
4. Separate control room section, Cue, flexible talkback for all outputs, 4 mute and solo groups, recall, external Input, local and global TrimGains/Post support with exclusion, channel layout presets to hide channels or MIDI remote functionality, 2 Row mode, multiple remote support, assignable F-key commands,Windows/Mac compatible mixer files, Matrix with Mono/Stereo mode, PFL mode, and and and...
RME now has pleasure in releasing version 1.12 for PC and Mac, enhancing this versatile software even further. Many new features have been added, free of charge to existing owners of RME interfaces, in response to direct customer feedback.
In the new version, you are now able to mirror one output to other available outputs at the click of a button. This creates synchronised submixes, which means all changes in one output are automatically reflected to those mirrored.
There is a new copy function for transferring routing and settings of input or playback channels from one to another.
So now, if you change the physical input you’re connecting to you can easily copy all the settings of the old input to the new input you’re using at a click of the right mouse button.
There’s also a new feature to copy the complete channel state including the EQ, Dynamics, and FX send settings from one to another.
Once RME’s developers saw how useful these right mouse click functions were in the mixer view, they decided to add a context sensitive right mouse menu to the matrix view too, making all features relevant to that screen now quickly accessible.
Further to this, there are useful changes like the ability to hide the control strip, or to override loading of main volume when recalling snapshots, so that listening levels in the control room are not affected as you recall different mixes. For remote control fans, there is new support for Mackie Control Extenders, which means you can plug in and use any Mackie Control compatible master and extender surfaces. And lastly there are some changes to channel name editing options, and the choice of None for the Main Output selection — particularly relevant to high channel count MADI card users who require no master volume or control room functionality.
