Sagalassos, City of Dreams

02-01-2012

The Gallo-Roman Museum is famous for making a large audience enthusiastic for archeology.

In May 2011, the museum was awarded 'European Museum of the Year', the highest distinction in the sector, for its recently opened permanent exhibition. In this tradition no efforts were spared for the 'Sagalassos, City of Dreams' exhibition which brings more than two hundred original objects from the Turkish archaeological site to the European mainland.

An extra-ordinary exhibition concept was developed.

Opera director Guy Joosten made a surprising scenographic installation with dozens of top-quality sculptures. The educational introduction of the exhibit was designed by in-house designer Peter Vos, who arranged lots of content elements in a very clear and transparent way.. and that is exactly what the Gallo-Roman Museum is known for.

A highlight in the exhibition is a cylindrical projection which surrounds a 3D-scalemodel in an immersive setup.
Visitors experience the projected images as if they were present on the archaeological site, discovering the remains of this luxurious antique roman city.

The Gallo Roman Museum chose Amptec, which earlier this year did the system integration on the multimedia project of the Port of Antwerp's Pavilion at the brand new MAS-museum.
While Amptec installed the projection system, Maverick ICS and Watchkraft where brought in for system design and content creation.
