Splendit delivers audio for Flemish award shows

19-02-2026

For the Gala of the Gouden K’s and the Music Industry Awards (MIA’s) at ING Arena Brussels, Splendit was entrusted by VRT with the full audio design and execution. The main challenge was ensuring maximum speech intelligibility both in the arena and in the live broadcast, despite constantly changing presentation positions across the stage, floor and grandstands.

To meet this challenge, Splendit deployed an advanced multi-zone PA system featuring more than 80 d&b loudspeakers. Rather than relying on a traditional left-right configuration, each zone was individually controlled, resulting in a highly consistent sound image while preventing spill into the broadcast mix.

Front-of-house was handled on a full DiGiCo Quantum setup: a Quantum 852 dedicated to the musical performances and a Quantum 338 exclusively for presentations and zone management. Monitors and in-ear mixes ran on a Quantum 7. All systems were interconnected via Optocore, with MADI splits feeding both the broadcast and multitrack recording trucks. “By strictly separating presentations and music across two Quantum consoles, you create operational clarity and seamless transitions. For one of Belgium’s largest television productions, that’s the only way to work,” says Tom Logghe (Splendit).

Live mixes were delivered by Peter Philps and Pieter ‘Pita’ Tanghe (MONO) at FOH, with Marcel Cortleven as monitor engineer. Wireless audio relied on Shure Digital Axient microphones and Wisycom in-ear systems. “In Brussels’ particularly congested RF environment, Wisycom provided the wide frequency management and audio quality we required,” Logghe concludes.
