KLANG:Vokal for Circus Camille

25-08-2025

For 3 weeks, Circus Camille transformed Ostend’s Klein Strand into a vibrant circus village. Around an impressive tent, visitors enjoyed fairground attractions and a festive atmosphere, while inside Camille led audiences through a dazzling 90-minute show filled with song, dance, acrobatics and theatre. With two performances per day, the production was a true summer highlight on the Belgian coast.

A less fatiguing mix
With no live band, all music was played back via QLab from 12 stems plus utility tracks — a setup that can easily overload IEM mixes. Monitor engineer Wim Jans relied on a DiGiCo Quantum 338 and KLANG:Vokal for the IEM system: “In a classic stereo mix you have to push vocals forward and hide the rest. With KLANG every instrument gets its own place, so the mix feels bigger, calmer and much less fatiguing. Camille could sing comfortably through multiple shows a day without even noticing the IEMs were in.”

Four ambience microphones routed through KLANG added a natural, lively atmosphere, keeping performers connected to the audience. With KLANG:Vokal at the core, she enjoyed a balanced sound that perfectly supported the dazzling stage performance.
