Grote Rappel: Precision in Sight and Sound
06-08-2025Grote Rappel 3 brings the rich story of the garrison town of Leopoldsburg and its residents to life. With an impressive 550 volunteers, the show is a powerful tribute to community, dedication, and history. Performed on a massive stage measuring 36 meters wide by 30 meters deep, the production features over 400 cast members across 18 distinct scenes. With 15,000 spectators seated in fixed grandstands, 44 vehicles and hundreds of performers move in unison — a true technical feat.
Soundscape: Directional Audio
In a production of this scale, a traditional stereo setup simply doesn’t suffice. On a 667 m² stage, sound can easily become disconnected from the visual, diminishing the immersive effect.
On the advice of Amptec and with technical support from CC Leopoldsburg, the d&b Soundscape system was successfully integrated into the show. This technology allows sound to be precisely located based on the actual position of a speaker or sound source on stage. As a result, no matter where audience members are seated, they perceive the sound as coming from the correct direction.
The outcome is a captivating performance where visuals and audio merge seamlessly into one unified experience.
