DiGiCo and Optocore network for Televie broadcast
17-05-2024Televie was created by RTL in 1989 as a charitable organisation dedicated to the fight against cancer and leukemia. Hosting events and fundraisers throughout the year, the cycle concludes with an annual televised broadcast – a huge gala event that offers people a last chance to donate before presenting the final cheque to the national fund for scientific research, FNRS (Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique).
This year the event was held at the newly renovated TournaiXpo convention centre in Tournai. AV production and broadcast specialists, Fortyeight were responsible for sound production using DiGiCo consoles on an Optocore network.
Optocore network
Fortyeight deployed four DiGiCo consoles to manage the event, all on an Optocore network: A Quantum 338 served as FoH for Studio A with a Quantum 225 as monitor console for the in-ear systems. In Hall B (the pledge center) an SD12 handled monitors and FoH and the ultra-compact SD11i managed the talk radio feeds. Additionally, SD-Racks were deployed to manage I/O for the band, HF mics and in-ears.

“We chose the Q338 for its audio processing power and its ability to connect to other equipment via almost any audio protocol – meaning it can serve as a hub within an Optocore deployment,” says Fortyeight CEO Laurent Fortier. “We also particularly like the ‘full access’ of the console and the ability to work with multiple operators. We often do our encoding in pre-production on the Q338 and then switch to the Q225 for operation on tour as its limited footprint and reasonable weight is very tour-friendly. For me, the Q338 is the standard in the live audio industry, just as the SD10 was before it.”
