This presentation focuses on improving speech intelligibility in AV-installations. Speech rate (no. of words per minute) is increasing, while more people suffer from bad hearing and the acoustics of rooms are not always optimised for the electroacoustic installation. The signal chain from speaking person and microphone to receiver is reviewed. Practical advice is given regarding acoustics, microphone specs, signal processing, transmission issues...
