d&b Upgrades Sound at De Oosterpoort

De Oosterpoort

31-01-2025 / Live /

De Oosterpoort in Groningen has enhanced its audio experience with new d&b sound systems in both the Grote Zaal and the Binnenzaal. The Grote Zaal, known for its challenging acoustics, now features an advanced KSL system, while the more intimate Binnenzaal is equipped with a powerful and compact A-series system, installed by Amptec. The venue is operated by SPOT Groningen.

Grote zaal
'Although the Grote Zaal had a relatively new sound system, it no longer met modern technical standards,' explains Mike Manders of Amptec. 'SPOT's technical team had a clear vision and selected this solution through a competitive tender process.' The KSL system's cardioid technology ensures precise sound dispersion across the full frequency range, minimizing reflections and reverberation. 'This results in a more direct, balanced, and controlled sound experience,' says Sascha Pil, head of stage technology at SPOT.

Binnenzaal
Previously, the Binnenzaal relied on rented sound equipment, but as the number of performances increased, a permanent installation became essential. 'We needed a compact and versatile system that could meet the demands of diverse artists,' says Pil. 'The A-series from d&b was the perfect fit.' With these upgrades, De Oosterpoort now offers high-quality sound systems that visiting productions can confidently rely on.
