PAARD embraces immersive and cardioid audio
06-04-2026Amptec has equipped both the Main Hall and the Small Hall of PAARD in The Hague with entirely new sound systems. With this major upgrade, the venue takes a significant step into the future of live audio, combining maximum sound control with a truly immersive listening experience.
In the Grolsch Hall (capacity 1150), Amptec installed a cutting-edge d&b KSL system. Audio distribution is handled by a DirectOut Prodigy platform. Head of Technical Department Wauter Wormser comments:
“The SL-Series is one of the most revolutionary developments of the past decade. The quieter the stage, the more control you retain in the audience area. Thanks to cardioid loudspeakers and d&b’s ArrayProcessing technology, we can reduce sound pressure levels without compromising the overall experience.”
The Small Hall (capacity 350) is particularly remarkable. Here, Amptec delivered the first immersive system in a Benelux pop venue and the first permanent d&b Soundscape installation in the Netherlands. The 360° setup consists of AL-Series loudspeakers, XSL subwoofers, AL delay speakers and E-Series surround speakers, powered by a DirectOut Maven matrix.
Wormser adds:
“We want to keep surprising our audience and allow them to experience music as intensely as possible. Even a simple left-right recording immediately sounds more spacious and richer through intelligent use of the system. Improved localisation of instruments and sound sources fully immerses the audience — and it doesn’t even need to be as loud.”

In addition to the PA systems, Amptec supplied a new d&b monitor setup and fully modernised the venue’s cabling infrastructure. PAARD is now ready to welcome a new generation of artists and productions.
