Soundscape Creates Golden Experience in DNB Vault
06-05-2025AV specialist Daniel Rossen, commissioned by Kloosterboer Decor, was responsible for the sound design and implementation of the impressive “Nieuwe Schatkamer” (New Treasury), located in the gold vault in the basement of De Nederlandsche Bank. As part of DNB’s goal to become more transparent and accessible, the visitor spaces – including the money and gold vault – play a key role.
Spatial Audio
Rossen deliberately opted for a spatial audio solution. “With 270-degree projection and the desire for immersive, moving effects and surround sound, d&b Soundscape was the obvious choice,” he explains. “A demo at ISE 2023 really convinced me to explore this further.”
In close collaboration with Redrum and our Sales Manager, Sjoerd Terpstra, a design was created including main speakers, effect speakers, subwoofers, and a Pixera server with a virtual Dante card. The mix was made on-site using a DS100 signal processor. “What makes this permanent installation unique is that we combined object-based and channel-based mixing,” says Terpstra.
“DNB’s trust gave us the freedom to realise this,” Rossen adds. “It truly makes a difference in the visitor experience.”
