A look at the fiber lab run by Yvonne and Sanne
The heart of Amptec fbroptx.
Meet Yvonne and Sanne. The two ladies at the very heart of Amptec's FiberLAB. It is where they make the fibre optic cables used to send digital sound and images to studio, live and broadcast environments. No easy task, given that fibre optic cables are razor thin. And that the tiniest speck of dust or dirt in the assembly can render a cable useless. But Yvonne and Sanne know exactly what they are doing: years of experience at Amptec have given them the precision and focus they need and played a major part in the success of the fbroptx business unit.

A dream team then, but it didn't happen overnight. "24 years ago I got a job wiring mixing tables for Amptec. When the market went digital I was the first to come and work for the fiberLAB", says Yvonne. A new field, in which Yvonne had no experience at that time. "Amptec saw my potential and gave me all the retraining I needed, in-house and off-site with our suppliers."
Sanne came aboard in 2018. "I already had some experience of the audio industry", she tells us, "but I was new to fiber technology. Happily, Amptec gave Yvonne the room to educate me on the subject." They just clicked, and before long they were an efficient team.

Sanne: "Working side-by-side for years, we know each other's strengths. We join forces to complete a task more efficiently, or alternate when it looks like we might be losing focus." They have also written assembly procedures themselves, to minimise the risk of errors.
Yvonne and Sanne are shining lights in their team and among their colleagues at Amptec. "We love our job", say Yvonne and Sanne with radiant smiles. "The alternation between on-and off-site work keeps it exciting."
