All new d:facto™ and d:screet™ solutions available
The d:facto Vocal Microphone is the mic of choice for diverse artists such as Sting, Stevie Wonder, Ellie Goulding, Royal Blood, Balthazar, SX, Goose, Gabriel Rios, Marco Borsato, etc.
DPA expands the d:facto range with a third member, the d:facto Linear Vocal Microphone, which has an extremely linear frequency response compared to the standard d:facto vocal mic, which has a subtle 3dB boost around 12kHz. Besides the d:facto vocal and d:facto linear vocal, the d:facto range also holds the d:facto interview omnidirectional microphone which was released last year.
The d:facto™ Linear Vocal Microphone is available now, and can already be seen and heard in Belgium live on tour with Hooverphonic and Tourist LeMC.
The GM1600 Gooseneck is a new mount for d:screet 4060/4061 Omnidirectional Miniature Microphones. Available separately or as two different kits with a d:screet Microphone, the GM1600 Gooseneck is compatible with DPA’s entire and extensive range of d:vote 4099 instrument mounting clips, which are specifically designed to never blemish or scratch your instrument.
When used with the d:screet™ 4061 Omnidirectional Lo-Sens Microphone, this versatile 15.3 cm (6 in) long gooseneck provides stable positioning for close miking instruments in studio and live environments. When used with the d:screet™ 4060 Omnidirectional Hi-Sens Microphone, which is designed for softer sound levels or for picking up ambient sound, it is ideal as a plant mic in a concealed application for film sound recordists who want clean, detailed and natural sound, even when the microphone is not pointing directly at the sound source.
The 4060 is one of the bodyworn microphones currently in promotion. Save 75€ by using the special order code BODYAPRIL when ordering.
Hooverphonic “In Wonderland” tour
Yesterday, April 4th, Hooverphonic kicked off their new tour. DPA is the only brand of microphones used onstage, 24 pieces in total.
Vocal duties are carried out by the new d:facto linear, wireless for the 3 lead vocalists and wired for Alex Callier’s backing vocal.
The 10-piece string section all use d:vote 4099 supercardio’s, which are also used on tom, 2 floortoms and snare bottom.
Other drum microphones are the 2011A cardio on kick, 2011C on snare top, hihat and overheads, with a 2006A omni used as a kit microphone. All other instruments are captured with direct boxes.
Tom Janssen, FOH engineer, explained us the band’s choice for DPA:
“We were looking for a very natural, linear sound. Arnout, our drummer, is very dynamic and plays lots of small details. DPA microphones capture this beautifully.
For the strings we chose the d:vote 4099 because of the supercardio characteristic. In a live situation, crosstalk between instruments and speakers is a necessary evil and inevitable, but when you work with a flat off-axis sound like all DPA’s have, the crosstalk is no longer an issue.”
