VRT Radio has recently taken delivery of a new radio OB-van. Amptec was awarded the contract to build this ingenious, sophisticated combination of a mobile radio studio with ON-AIR mixer and a music mixing console with the purpose to broadcast radio shows with live concerts.

The live audio as well as the communication to and from the broadcast center are established via a network connection by satellite. A 4 channel ruggedized fiber optic cable, equipped with expanded beam connectors of Fibreco, connects 48 audio, intercom and network channels from the venue to the van. Its own power circuitry with UPS functionality ensures an unseen reliability.

The S5 offers a comfortable working environment thanks to the carefully designed interior, the acoustic treatment and isolation and the well dimensioned airco and heating system.
