The postproduction cell of VMMa was recently completely renewed and made compatible to work in HD. It is for voicing over programmes and trailers, that this postproduction cell is being used for.
VMMa, together with Amptec, opted to demount the studio entirely and to wire everything to the wishes of the client.
Where before everything had to be dumped from and to tape, now it is possible to load the audio from the Avid Unity directly into Protools. For video, the choice was made for Avid Media composer with Mojo DX. Media composer works here as a satellite of Protools, which is necessary for being able to work completely in HD.
Video too is connected with the Avid Unity to work file-based. To stay compatible with external video and audio suppliers, three betacams are integrated into the system, which are controlled from remote.
It is the Digidesign C|24 that is being used as remote for Protools. Thanks to this, almost all functions of the software can be controlled via the remote. An Amptec talk back system has also been installed with which communication between the voice over cell and all Avid cells is possible in both directions. This is necessary because from now on the Amptec distribution amplifiers make voice over possible in every Avid-cel.
All of this was done by Amptec within one week-end; afterwards, the studio was taken back into use for 100%.
